B.Ed Lesson Plan Formats
B.Ed lesson plan formats explained: the parts of a lesson plan, common approaches like Herbartian and 5E, and ready formats for B.Ed students.
Lesson plans are a core part of every B.Ed course in India. Most colleges ask student teachers to prepare a fixed number of lesson plans for each teaching subject during practice teaching and internship.
Parts of a typical B.Ed lesson plan
- General information: name, class, subject, topic, date, period and duration
- General and specific objectives (often written using Bloom’s taxonomy)
- Teaching aids and materials
- Previous knowledge and introduction (motivation)
- Presentation: teacher activity, student activity and blackboard work
- Recapitulation and evaluation questions
- Home assignment
Common lesson plan approaches
- Herbartian approach: preparation, presentation, comparison, generalisation and application
- 5E model: engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate (popular for science)
- Constructivist and ICT-based plans: used in many newer B.Ed syllabi
Formats differ between universities, so always check the format your college asks for. Our B.Ed lesson plan files are coming soon: tap “Notify me” below to hear when they launch.
